The Bible was written for you: This is the title of the daily Bible reading method, that the Founder of the Canção Nova Community, Fr. Jonas Abib, developed so that through it, we could become new men and women for the New World

The bible was written for you

Mons.Jonas Abib

Matheus 7:7

1) Promises (from God): God speaks to us every day, above all through His Word, so reading should be daily, and one of the things we usually find in the chapter (or passage) of the day are the Promises of God, when you find them you should write them down (in a notebook or electronic media).
Example: “Ask and you shall receive” (Mt 7:7)

2nd) Orders (from God): Those who love take care, that’s why every day God guides our lives through his orders and commandments to deliver us from evil, obeying them is a sign of wisdom and trust in his loving fatherhood. Write them down as you find them (you can also underline them).
Example: “Love one another” (Jn 13:34)

3º) Eternal Principles: These mean the laws of the Kingdom of God, that characterize and govern it. They are called “eternal” because they are immutable. They bring us back to the word “time” and this reminds us that in this method you should set a minimum time for your daily Bible study, which can be as little as 10 minutes, but ideally 40 minutes! You decide!
Example: “God is love” (I Jn 4:8); “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” (Lk 18:14)

4) What is God’s message for me today?: God has a special message for you every day; and by reading this Bible passage, the Holy Spirit will make you realize that at least one of the verses will touch your heart in a different way, and in it (probably) will be God’s message for you that day. Write it down and describe it.

5º) How to live/practice this in my life?: Once God has spoken through His Word, the next step must be your response, that is, describe in a personal way in your Spiritual Diary (Bible Study) how you decide to live/practice that particular “Message from God”.
Example: “Starting from God’s Message to me today, which is: “Pray for those who persecute you” (Mt 5:44), I propose to pray for all the people who have hurt me, asking God to bless them.”

Now it’s your turn!
Grab your Bible and your notebook and start today! God bless you!

Who we are

The Canção Nova Community was born from the Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Nuntiandi (Pope Paul VI).
Based on this inspiration and with the authorization of the Bishop of the time, Dom Afonso de Miranda,
Mons. Jonas Abib made the first call to young people who felt the need to give their lives entirely to God,
in community. The community grew and formed with men and women, young and old, single, married, and celibate,
priests and deacons. Currently, there are more than 600 members spread across different mission fronts throughout
Brazil and the world.

Recognized in 2008 by the Pontifical Council for the laity as a private international association of believers,
endowed with legal personality, it has headquarters in the city of Cachoeira Paulista, Diocese of Lorena, São Paulo – Brazil.
The term Canção Nova corresponds to a new song, a theme that runs through the entire history of salvation: it is the song of
the redeemed, the song of new women and men for the New Word. The Canção Nova Community is committed to being this song
for the Church and for the world and intends to be, in the Church, the “House of Mary”, understanding this expression in
the biblical sense: of the descent of Mary, of the race of Mary, her mother and educator.

The foundation of the Canção Nova Community and the Gospel: to live and communicate it in an integral way, in the effectiveness
of the Holy Spirit, while waiting and presenting the glorious coming of the Lord, it must be the commitment of all members.
The Canção Nova is called to be the House of Mercy.
